I created Link Hall because I believe language fluency isn't built through memorized grammar rules or repetitive drills. It grows through real interaction, shared ideas, and having something meaningful to say.

As a gay man, I also know how meaningful it can be to find a space where you can meet people, talk openly, and feel understood. When I first moved to Toronto, one of the first communities I found was a group for gay men. It wasn't a language class or a book club. It was simply a place to meet people, share experiences, and connect with others who understood something about your life. That experience stayed with me.

Link Hall sprung from a similar idea: that learning can be more meaningful when it happens in a space where people feel welcome, curious, and comfortable being themselves.

I've always been drawn to great literature. Books offer something traditional language textbooks simply can't: a window into human experience, culture, identity, subtext, and natural language. And LGBTQ+ stories can be especially powerful. Many explore identity, belonging, resilience, and the experience of finding your place in the world, themes that give us plenty to think about and talk about, both on and beyond the page.

When you discuss a compelling story, small talk disappears. You're not just practicing vocabulary. You're sharing your perspective, exploring different points of view, understanding cultural nuance, and finding your voice in English.

How My Background Shapes Link Hall

Link Hall brings together two sides of my professional life: language education and experience working with people, clients, and organizations.

• Six Years of International Teaching: I've taught English in Hong Kong, Mexico, and Canada, working with adult learners from a wide range of backgrounds. As a TESOL-certified tutor, I understand the challenges of moving from knowing English to actually feeling comfortable using it, especially when it comes to speaking, expressing yourself, and navigating the subtleties of real communication.

• International & Professional Experience: My career outside education has included digital account management, client operations, project coordination, and participating directly in hiring processes. These experiences have given me a practical understanding of how communication works beyond the classroom, From building relationships and expressing ideas to navigating professional and cultural situations with confidence.
